Quick creepy stories. Paradise Pine was definitely my favorite in short story in this book. Will look at volume 2.
So, I love a full length horror/suspense novel as much as the next person, but getting to the spooky and/or creepy ending in just a few pages is so nice sometimes.
The short stories in this book are all so amazing! Not only did I get through super fast because I couldn't put it down, but I plan on purchasing the next two volumes.
Every time I find myself reading a story on nosleep and thinking "This person is an incredible writer." I wouldn't be surprised to find whichever story I was reading was by the Dalek Emperor. Eventually I followed a link at the end of a story and found C.K. Walker's Facebook page which eventually lead me here. Even though I've read a good amount of her stories on nosleep already I was eager to devour them in ebook format. I wasn't disappointed. These stories are captivating and well written. There are a few minor typos but beyond that I have zero complaints. Thank you for sharing them, C.K. And good luck with your future endeavors. I'm eager to see how your writing translates to the screen with your upcoming Netflix project.
The stories were fairly good. In the beginning some of the themes got a bit repetitive but towards the end especially the last tale, really showed the creativity of the author. I look forward to more work from the author and how her skills will evolve. One thing I would love to see an improvement on is the use of an editor. The book was loaded with spelling errors.
This was for a gift. Second to a new gaming system, this was her favorite. Bday present. She follows C.K. Walker, and has blogged about her narratives multiple times, Borassca being her favorite. She has already suggested the book to both her father and I. I plan on getting her the next book soon. I realize this does not help the reader know any specifics about the book, but let me say this to anybody who likes creepypastas, my daughter who does blog and has a following loves this book.
I picked up this book out of curiosity and decided to give the more positive reviews the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, the negative reviews for this book, while harsh, are dead on. The book suffers from numerous grammatical errors due to lack of proofreading, simplistic character development and dialogue that lacks any sense of nuance with regarding to tone or diction. Even the so-called “twists” in the stories are ineffective, as it becomes pretty evident that every character is simply insane or suffers from mental illness. This very simplistic plot structure lacks imagination and sophistication.
I wanted to like this book, as it was written by an independent author. There are many talented independent writers out there who craft wonderful and complex stories. I just don’t feel C.K. Walker is one of them.
The stories in this book will send chills down your spine. Not one story disappointed me at all, only wishing for more from this very talented writer. Borrasca for example is probably one of my all time favorite stories to ever read, the twist and turns in the story will leave you horrified and wishing you never gained the guts to pick up this terrifying masterpiece that is Cold. Thin. Air.
